The droidcon Barcamp
droidcon Berlin starts off with a barcamp on Wednesday (June 15, 2016). The barcamp is one of the interactive parts of the event, where you get the chance to actively shape the program. It's also perfect for very up-to-date topics that have emerged shortly before.
In the morning, we're all coming together at the main stage and after an introduction by our barcamp coordinator Friedger Müffke, you'll have the chance to shortly present a topic that you would like to hold a session on. If enough people are interested, your session will be part of the barcamp program. We're scheduling all sessions as quickly as we can and then it starts! You can start proposing topics now, by inserting them into this Trello Board.
As we've done it last year, there will be a gitbook for this year's Barcamp too. Feel free to read and contribute here.
Rapid Demo Session
Furthermore we'll have a Rapid Demo Session. 10 selected demos will be presented at the same time. The audience will move in groups from one demo to the next after 5 minutes. So, the same demo is given to 10 times to 10 different groups.
If you want to participate with a demo, submit your ideas here until June 13. The demos can be apps, libraries, tools, sdks, designs, protoypes, ... .
Our partner Microsoft will present 2 workshops to show you how to use Microsoft's vast array of online services to extend your application with magical capabilities. Each 2,5h workshop will cover a different set of services to give you the chance to get in-depth hands on experience with Microsoft Cognitive Services and how you can enrich your apps with the possibilities they offer. After each workshop you will have coded a fully functional Android app and used different Cognitive Service APIs.
droidcon Mobility Area
Last but certainly not least we are excited to announce droidcon's first mobility area in partnership with Berlin Partner on the ground floor of Postbahnhof on Wednesday.Bosch, Berlin Partner, Fraunhofer FOKUS, Volkswagen, Embedeers, lesswire and High Mobility will be there and present their visions for a more intelligent, connected future of mobility. Meet exciting people, explore a demo-car by Bosch, tinker with LEGO, learn about the latest developments, be creative and exchange ideas about what android can do!

But wait – what is a barcamp?
Barcamps are informal sessions, a kind of "un-conference", with a schedule decided on the day. It's all driven by the interests and expertises of those who attend, so each one is different, but ours are always great!
While the schedule isn't worked out until the start of the event, the barcamp isn't without structure! They're dynamic events, focused on the overall droidcon event's topics, tackling the same challenges but in a different format. At the Barcamp sessions will run for 30 or 60 minutes, giving enough time to get into the meat of a topic. These are participatory sessions and more inclusive than regular conference sessions, with everyone taking part. They can be lectures, discussions, code labs, skill trainings or any other format. You can help, perhaps by leading the session, perhaps by giving some insights, perhaps by asking some great questions, or perhaps just by your enthusiasm. At the end of the day everybody gets together to share their experience of the day and give feedback.
Come along again for great discussions and knowledge sharing with your fellow attendees, on all the hot topics from the conference, and all those we couldn't quite squeeze into the main days!
